this is THE model for how you want your reader to feel (ESPECIALLY but not only in a thriller, suspense or mystery). Plus it’s a great read you may have suspiciously skipped because it’s really not what it seems.

I care deeply about this election, and I’m an election official in my town. But I’m wildly bothered by the fact that no matter how many times I text “STOP” to candidates texting to ask for money, I just get another text—often from the same candidate but presumably from a different source. I’m not reporting anyone, obviously, these are usually the candidates I want to win. But OMFG stop already. I gave. But I kinda wish I hadn’t, and that’s not how you want me to feel.

I am turning the pages of a design book looking for inspiration. Apparently the person who owns this office has a job… reading books, only during daylight hours, while smoking a cigarette. But only that one book, actually. And… collecting empty vases.
