Ron Gabrisko joined Databricks as CRO when it was doing under $1M in ARR. Databricks is now a ~$190 billion company doing $7B+ ARR growing at a pace like we have never seen before.

Ron sat down with Sam Blond, co-founder of Monaco and former CRO of Brex, on the SaaStr AI Podcast. They last recorded in October 2024, and this episode covers what has changed in sales and go-to-market in the two years since: hiring, demand gen, seller time, post-sale, and pricing.

Databricks is 13 years old. Monaco started in 2024. Sam compared Databricks to an oil tanker turning around, and Monaco to a company built AI-native from day one. Their answers line up on most topics, and split on one.

The big defaults for software debt … are unfortunately yet to come @wsj

“Solera, a maker of software for vehicle maintenance, has about $8 billion in loans coming due in 2028 and 2029. Vista Equity Partners, which acquired the company in 2016, had planned an initial public…

The Wall Street Journal just reported that about $140 billion of risky corporate loans owed by private-equity-backed companies come due in 2028, with another $160 billion in 2029. From 2023 to 2025, the amount due two years out averaged about $60 billion, per PitchBook.

Fin is a single agent that handles sales, support and more, moving seamlessly between roles so customer context is never lost. Fin is the highest-performing agent because it runs on proprietary AI Models trained on billions of customer interactions.

See how Fin makes perfect possible.

We are about 10 months or so into AI for go-to-market that actually works: agents running real motions in production, booking real meetings and closing real dollars.

In that time, agents have absorbed much of SDR, first-line support, a growing share of CS, and big parts of marketing ops and RevOps. Self-serve is closing deals that used to need a rep. Org charts that looked permanent in 2025 now get redrawn every quarter.

The CRO / VP of Sales role is as critical as ever.

Everything else is up for grabs.

We see this running SaaStr with 3 humans and 20+ agents in production, and the GTM leaders on our stage this year, from Anthropic to Owner to Vercel, described the same pattern. Below is what changed in each role, and what landed on the revenue leader's desk as a result.

Get more than an LLC. Northwest gives you a business address, domain, website, phone number, privacy protection, and more — all in one place. Everything you need to launch professionally and build with confidence from day one.

We run SaaStr with three humans and 20+ AI agents in production. In the last few weeks, two different agents destroyed something we can't run the business without. Both times we got it back within an hour, and both times the copy we restored from was one we had never set up as a backup.

Every team running agents in production is going to have deletions like these. When yours happens, the question is where the clean copy lives. In both of our cases, we got lucky.

A third party agent deleted all our Salesforce records literally minutes after we deployed it.

Amelia called Sumble the best company you probably haven't heard of yet.

Its customers include Snowflake, Databricks, Figma, Wiz, and a long list of AI companies like Baseten, Vercel, Modal, and CodeRabbit. SaaStr has been running it for the last six to eight weeks.

Founder Anthony Goldbloom doesn't come from go-to-market. He previously founded Kaggle, the machine learning community that Google acquired in 2017. Nine years later it still runs under its own brand as a division of DeepMind. He built Sumble by working closely with GTM teams at the companies above to figure out what data an agent-first sales motion actually needs.
