New guides: Convex, Grok Build, and AI image generation + Black Friday warning
Hi there,
First of all I want to thank my sponsors Creem and LiveKit. Creem helps you sell software online, and LiveKit gives you the tools to build voice AI agents, check them out!!
I've published several new tutorials this week.
First, Convex.
I use it in many of my projects, including the platforms behind my courses.
It gives you a database and backend functions you write in TypeScript. When data changes, your frontend gets the updated results automatically.
The tutorial builds a small task app with Astro. We start with a shared board, then add sign-in and private tasks. From there, we work through search, file uploads, background jobs, testing, and deployment.

I also published a big guide to AI image generation.
Generating a picture is easy to get started with. Getting an image you can use on your website takes more thought.
We follow a bicycle repair shop illustration from the initial brief through editing and preparing the final asset. Along the way, I explain hosted tools, local models, ComfyUI, and JavaScript APIs.
If you've been wondering which approach to try, this should help you choose.

For coding agents, there's a new Grok Build tutorial.
This covers the terminal agent that works on your local project. We start with installation and a small JavaScript bug, then move into planning, permissions, reusable skills, and automation.
You can follow the opening exercise before deciding how much of the advanced setup you need.
There's also a new TinyFish tutorial for automating work on websites from JavaScript.
We start by extracting a product catalog, then look at browser tasks, research, and monitoring. You'll see how to ask for structured results and check what comes back.
Finally, a tutorial I'd read before giving an agent deployment access: how to protect your secrets.
Keeping passwords out of Git is one part of the job. They can also escape through command output, build files, browser JavaScript, or code deployed to your server.
The guide walks through those routes and shows where to put checks.

Have a good week!
