iPhone Duo – Apple responds to screen cracks on some devices
iPhone Duo now gets the attention on social media. And one of the complaints is screen damage in the same area.
Apple addresses this issue with the statement (via MacRumors):
The response to iPhone Duo from early users has been incredibly positive, and we are seeing exciting things from developers who are rapidly updating their apps to take advantage of its unique form factor. We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units. If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement.
iFixit disassembled iPhone Duo and found a potential cause for screen issue – in the hinge. However, it is not yet confirmed, and the company making the hinge denies these accusations.
Apple is also working on Safari layout issues affecting iPhone Duo. That might require web designers to adopt new WebKit features targeting new layouts.
Other reviews focus on usability of the new device, performance, battery life and other aspects of day-to-day usage.
