AI can translate your site, so why does it still sound wrong?

Translating a page isn't the hard part anymore…

Any AI model can turn a page into Spanish or German in seconds. Making it sound like you, and keeping it that way as your content changes, is the hard part.

We've used the Weglot translation plugin for WordPress on a number of our sites over the years. Now they’ve launched Weglot 2.0 (which is available right away for new WordPress users, and will open progressively to all users), where the focus has moved to everything that happens after the translation itself.

These 3 points are what really caught my attention from their announcement:

• The translations now sound like you, and the AI Translation Model works from your Brand Profile and Translation Guidelines, so product names and key terms stay consistent across every language.
• It translates the text inside your images while keeping the design intact, and Weglot MCP lets you review and update translations straight from your AI assistant.
• Hreflang tags, translated metadata and language-specific URLs are built in, so every translated page is ready for search engines and AI answer engines from day one.

MCP is the part I'm most curious about for the future of website translation. We've been doing more of our own work through AI assistants this year, so translations feel like a natural fit for that same conversation.
