October Update

October 27, 2026

Dear UXL Foundation Steering Committee & Community Members,

Register Now

The oneAPI Dev Summit hosted by the UXL Foundation is open for registration here. Also, the Call for Papers closes October 31st. We are excited to get the community together at this annual event! Please spread the word with your developer community. The oneAPI Dev Summit takes place on December 1, 2026 as a virtual conference starting 7 AM - 2 PM Pacific. AMD has graciously agreed to keynote the event with Prakash Raghavendra, Senior Fellow at AMD presenting.

Intel hosted a mentoring session, "oneAPI in the Wild; Ready for Agents" which can be watched on the UXL Foundation YouTube Channel.

Our team gathered for a dinner on Sunday, October 18th in San Jose prior to the PyTorch and Triton conferences there. It was great to have everyone meet up face-to-face.

Pictured above, clockwise from left are: Sesh Seshagiri (Qualcomm, Steering Committee co-chair), Manuj Sabharwal (Intel, former Steering Committee co-chair), Rod Burns (Roofline, former Steering Committee chair), Jian Hui Li (Intel, co-chair of the AI and Scientific Computing SIG), Alison Richards (ArrayFire, Marketing Committee chair), John Melonakos (Intel, Open Source Working Group chair), and Andy Wafaa (Arm, Steering Committee co-chair).

We also had a joint announcement from AMD and Intel regarding a collaboration to simplify AI development on x86 CPUs with oneDNN. This is exciting news given AMD had ZenDNN and Intel had oneDNN and the companies plan to combine their x86 CPU optimization work for PyTorch in oneDNN to give developers a common software path across AMD and Intel CPUs. https://newsroom.amd.com/news/amd-intel-collaborate-simplify-ai-development-on-x86-cpus-pytorch/
