[Email #1 of 4] I build persistence layers differently (explanation…)
Hey,
I just spotted that you joined my newsletter. That’s awesome!
You've joined a group of Java developers, all working to 'level up' their skills and build better persistence layers.
And I’m excited to help, so here's what you can expect from me:
1) A persistence knowledge nugget every weekday - Monday to Friday, I send you a short, fun email with a tip, story, strategy, or idea to help you build better persistence layers. You can unsubscribe at any point, but who wouldn't want a daily nugget of Java persistence knowledge? :)
2) The Blog - Grow your skills and stay up to date with the latest releases and features in the Java persistence world. You can read the latest posts here.
3) My YouTube channel - Do you prefer videos over written content? Then, my YouTube channel is the right place for you.
4) Shortcut - Want a shortcut to my very best Java persistence content? It’s all inside the Persistence Hub. Check it out.
As you can tell, I’m a little bit obsessed with JPA, Hibernate, Spring Data JPA, and other Java persistence frameworks.
And I think about building persistence layers a little differently to most...
WARNING: There's a chance I could get on my high horse about this.
Most people have one strategy when implementing their persistence layer:
They copy and paste some annotations or code snippets from other classes in their projects. And if that doesn’t work, they search on StackOverflow and copy a snippet from there.
And that’s why so many projects struggle with performance and data consistency issues. To be honest, it makes me sad.
BUT - this email is getting a little long already, so I'll drop you an email to show you my approach tomorrow.
Watch out for it. The subject line will be 'What if your persistence layer is NOT a slow black box?'.
(It'll help you build better persistence layers, even if you’re working on a legacy project).
Speak tomorrow,
Thorben
