A man reading a new issue of Terminal Trove Weekly

A warm welcome to the 147th issue of Terminal Trove Weekly! we publish once a week on Tuesdays.

In this issue, we explore the next terminal tool of the week which is termtastic, alongside more new terminal tools listed in the trove.

Have you made or know of a terminal tool?

A terminal client for Meshtastic to chat over radio networks.

termtastic is a terminal client for sending messages and inspecting Meshtastic radio networks.

It connects to a compatible Meshtastic device over connections such as Bluetooth LE, Wifi, LoRa or serial which it can automatically discover near-by devices on the network. You can reply and send reactions in channel chats and in direct conversations (DMs).

All chats and connections made within the Meshtastic network are encrypted at the packet level including DMs that communicate through the network.

The node list in the TUI shows each connected node's statistics and telemetry information such as the signal readings, uptime, position, last-heard times and the last hop count.

This terminal client allows for sorting and filtering for finding particular devices on the network and you can traceroute a node to show the packet's route through the mesh network.

termtastic is for those who are engineers, developers or hobbyists in radio hardware or decentralised mesh networks who want to use a minimal terminal client to exchange messages and examine how neighbouring nodes connect through a mesh network regardless of the connection type.

Valeriy Protopopov (@acelot on GitHub) made termtastic using Ratatui and is Terminal Tool of the Week! ⭐️
