Thanks so much for your subscription, and welcome! You have now joined a readership that dates back to the winter of 2004, when The Practicing Writer (Version 1.0) launched on Yahoo! Groups. When that system announced its demise, the newsletter re-launched here at Substack, which has proved to be a most hospitable place.

You will start receiving this monthly newsletter right here in your inbox. Typically, each new issue appears on the last weekday of the previous month (the April issue goes out March 31). You can also check our Substack page to read new posts as they are published.

I’m always eager to know about ways in which this newsletter contributes to your writing practice. Please drop me a note anytime to share publications, wins, or other benefits that it may have brought you. (Unless you specify otherwise, I’m likely to amplify your good news in a future newsletter.)

One (near-)final point: For many years, I’ve provided additional opportunity updates between the monthly newsletters in weekly “Markets and Jobs” posts each Monday on my Practicing Writing blog.
