Buster's Rickshaw
👋 Hello!
Thanks for hopping into my wobbly creative rickshaw, where I share all of the less polished, more personal details of my life and creative pursuits. You’re currently all set up to get newsletters sent to the free tier.
👉 Here’s a list of past posts.
To help you get a better sense of who I am and the kinds of things that I’m obsessed with, here’s a quick starter kit of things from the past that might be of interest to you:
1. The book I wrote. Why Are We Yelling? The Art of Productive Disagreement grew out of the my research into cognitive biases and the polarized state of our political conversation in the world. It offers a simple framework of 8 things to try to reframe anxiety and turn disagreements into opportunities for insight, connection, and enjoyment.
2. The cognitive bias cheat sheet. This is the most popular thing I've published online, which I completely didn't expect to happen. There’s also a mobile-friendly version!
3. My public beliefs file. I've been tracking my beliefs publicly for many years, and invite feedback on them.
4. My influences. People who have changed how I think about the world and myself.
5. Books. A fairly short and unassuming list of books that changed how I think.
6. 750 Words. A website and community I run with my wife, Kellianne, that's all about building a habit of writing private, stream-of-consciousness brain-dumps every day. And my thoughts around why I think private journaling is better than meditation.
7. Should we be happy? A weird comic about happiness, based on the story of Sisyphus. And other experiments in drawing.
8. Live like a hydra. My central philosophy about how to live in a chaotic world. Pairs well with 8:36pm and my pile of unformed thoughts related to self-reflection.
9. Memento mori. Remember, you will die. That sucks but it also gives us perspective and motivation to make the most of what we're living today.
What about you? What’s one thing from your past or present that you think we may have in common? It can be a complete guess. Hit reply anytime.
