A word about your Good Surfer subscription!
Hey, thanks for subscribing!
You will now occassionally receive a newsletter from the Good Surfer.
My goal, with this newsletter, is to help you discover better content over the Internet.
But I don’t just want to want to show you the interesting things that I found but I also want to tell you how I found it. I want to answer the how of the how.
Ultimately, I want to teach you how to find motivating and insightful content over the Internet.
Why an occassional newsletter?
I have stopped making any commitments to regularity with this newsletter. So it is not a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly newsletter. It would be good if I came across amazing things with some regularity but I don't.
I plan to tell you about a surfing session that has me awestruck. Whenever it happens.
I want to send you an email only when I come across something that is absolutely worth sending.
That's not my natural flow.
Here’s what you are in for:
As a hobby, I often go down into deep rabbit holes of the Internet. I believe that this has led me to, not only learn the most important things that I know but also, discover what I love doing. In this newsletter, I’ll try to answer the question “How to surf the Internet to find good, motivating stuff?” — by walking you through a cool surfing story of mine that taught me an important lesson.
My focus is on delivering something that has a long half-life rather than what is hot right now. So don't expect the latest fad, tech or news pieces in your inbox.
It’ll be a collection of high quality personal essays, blogs and micro-blogs, publications, communities of inspired people, interviews, newsletters, podcasts, videos or any kind of web content that is moved me.
“Develop into a lifelong self-learner through voracious reading; cultivate curiosity and strive to become a little wiser every day.”
— Charlie Munger
To make the most out of this newsletter, you should remember some rules of web surfing (that I made up):
4 rules for being a good surfer -
Go to the source of any article you read and find the goose that laid the golden egg
Follow links to other articles and go deep in the rabbit hole
Google for stuff
And, use Twitter
They will help you in discovering better content over the Internet.
Are you intrigued? You can go, check out the last few editions of Good Surfer on the website.
Also, if you think that that friend of yours would be interested in this newsletter too, please help me spread the word by forwarding this email to him/her and asking him/her to subscribe!
Now some housekeeping stuff...Please mark this email address as ‘not spam’ so that future newsletters don't end up in the spam. Also, if you can't seem to receive the newsletters, you should look in the Promotions tab.
Thanks again for subscribing.
