Pathless by Paul Millerd

Hey there 👋

🙏 Thanks for joining 26k+ others and giving me a shot to stick around in your inbox! You’re receiving this because you joined my mailing list through my pathlesspath.com, pmillerd.com or through my book download on gumroad.

In 2018, I started to commit to the newsletter and started writing every week. I now look forward to setting aside time to dive into the writing process and try to untangle what went through my mind that week and explore the questions that are alive for me.

The questions I explore include:

  • Why does work seem to be the center of life for so many people?

  • If work is not the center of life, how else should one live?

  • What does it really take to reinvent your life path and why is it so hard?

  • Where do our beliefs about work come from?

  • How do you start fresh and learn new things once you enter your 30s and beyond?

  • How are others hacking a living in the modern world?

If you have any answers, musings, or reflections, you can reply. I also like to hang out and talk about these things on Twitter, YouTube & Instagram if you’d like to follow me.

Modern Organizations & Work

My Story: Following My Curiosity

I created Boundless as an idea and a platform - to try to make sense of how we enable organizations to be more human and how we can imagine beyond the default path to let people do work that matters to them and make things like self-employment more accessible.

I am fascinated by questions that loosely make up what I am calling the “human side of work.”

Questions like “How do you unleash the creative potential in organizations?” or “What are the fears people need to overcome to take a bold leap to work on their own?” and “Are there better ways of working in the future for community, connection & our health?”

Avoiding The Hustle

When I look around and see other solopreneurs and freelancers, I see a lot of hustle. Enormous amounts of energy are put into monetizing their work and scaling their businesses.

My gut tells me that approach won’t work for most people and is likely unsustainable. I’ve made drastic cuts in my life (cutting my cost of living by almost 80%) and embraced a simple life to give myself time and space to think deeply, stay curious, and create tools and resources that will help people take action on their creative projects.

My “strategy” can be boiled down to this: A bet that defaulting to generosity and humor, building deep relationships with people, and helping people take action on their creative pursuits will help me learn and also always keep me oriented towards figuring out what to do next.
