Talihina clinched a district championship, Panama rallied to remain in the title race and Pocola received a forfeit victory Friday as LeFlore County football teams went 3-1.
Heavener suffered the county’s only loss Friday, falling at Victory Christian. Poteau opened the week’s action Thursday with a victory at Tulsa McLain.

Victory Christian 33, Heavener 10
Panama 27, Warner 18

Thursday’s score

Talihina claims district championship
Talihina remained undefeated and clinched the District A-II-3 championship with a 53-32 victory at previously unbeaten Regent Prep.
The defending state champions won their 23rd straight game and secured a home playoff opener. They would also host a second-round game if they advance.
The Golden Tigers improved to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in district play. Talihina closes the regular season at home against Liberty next week.
Regent Prep dropped to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in district play.
Heavener closes season at Victory Christian
Heavener lost its final game Friday, falling 33-10 at Victory Christian in Tulsa.
With a forfeit victory already awarded for next week’s scheduled game against Spiro, the Wolves finish 2-8 overall and 1-6 in district play.
Victory Christian improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in district play. The Conquerors secured the district’s fourth playoff berth after Hugo lost Friday. Victory Christian holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Buffaloes.
Panama rallies; Pocola receives forfeit
Panama overcame a 12-7 halftime deficit to defeat Warner 27-18 and remain tied with Pocola and Coalgate atop District A-I-4.
Coalgate defeated Hulbert 35-14, while Pocola received a 15-0 forfeit victory because Okemah did not have enough players available.
Panama, Pocola and Coalgate enter the final week with 5-1 district records. Panama visits Pocola, while Coalgate hosts Haskell.
The district championship scenarios are:
A Pocola victory gives the Indians the championship.
Victories by Panama and Coalgate give Coalgate the championship because the Wildcats defeated Panama earlier this season.
A Panama victory paired with a Coalgate loss gives the Razorbacks the championship.
If Pocola wins, Coalgate would finish second, Panama third and Vian fourth. Even with a loss to Haskell, Coalgate would hold the head-to-head advantage over both Panama and Vian.
Poteau prepares for Sallisaw
Poteau’s 47-21 victory at Tulsa McLain on Thursday set up a home finale against undefeated Sallisaw.
The Pirates are 6-3 overall and 4-2 in District 4A-4. Sallisaw improved to 9-0 and 6-0 with a 42-7 victory over Hilldale on Friday.
The Black Diamonds have clinched the district championship regardless of next week’s result.
Poteau and Stilwell are tied for third, with Stilwell facing Ada in the regular-season finale.
A Stilwell victory would give the Indians third place and leave Poteau fourth, regardless of the Pirates’ result, because Stilwell won their earlier meeting.
If Stilwell loses and Poteau wins, the Pirates finish third.
If both Stilwell and Poteau lose, the Indians, Pirates and Ada would finish tied at 4-3. With each team having beaten one of the others, district points would determine the final two playoff positions.

The Basics
The Oklahoma State football team (5-2 overall; 3-1 Big 12) begins a two-game road stretch this week as it heads to Iowa State (3-4 overall; 1-3 Big 12) for thefirst time since 2023. Kickoff for the Halloween matchup is set for 6 p.m. CT Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa.

It will also be carried live on the Cowboy Radio Network, with Dave Hunziker handling play-by-play, John Holcomb providing analysis and Deion Imade reporting from the sideline. Fans outside of the Cowboy Radio Network can listen to the OSU broadcast for free through The Varsity Network app.
Six Straight Games Above 30 Points
The Cowboys have scored more than 30 points in six consecutive games for the first time since an eight-game streak during the 2021-22 seasons. If they reach nine,it would tie OSU’s single-season streak record that was set in the final nine games of the 2011 season. It would also mark the longest stretch overall for OSU since the school-record 13-game run across the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The only other double-digitstreak was a 10-game stretch from 1987-88.
The Most Improved Teams in Program History
The Cowboys are already one of the 11 most improved teams in Oklahoma State history when it comes to win totals. Here are the best teams in terms of improved win totals from the year prior:
Noting the Cowboys in Halloween Games
Oklahoma State is 8-9 in games played on Halloween, and this year’s matchup is its first since 2020. The Cowboys have won seven of their past 12 on Halloween:

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series 34-22-3, and the Cowboys have won nine of the past 13 and 11 of the past 16 meetings. OSU also leadsthe series in Ames, holding a 15-14-1 advantage and winning four of those past six matchups. Eric Morris has never faced ISU as a head coach and Iowa State’s Jimmy Rogers is 0-1 in his head coaching career against OSU, falling to the Cowboys in the 2024 seasonopener while he was the head coach at South Dakota State.
