New Directions In MusicOct 28, 2026

Hey! Thanks for signing up for New Directions In Music. I’m Marshall Bowden, a music writer and historian, and I write about the music that has made a difference in my life and in the culture(s) we live in.

Sometimes I’ll talk about new music that I enjoy, sometimes an old favorite found on vinyl. At other times I’ll comment on a music scene or news that’s being discussed. All with the intention of bringing to you, my readers, a sense of the depth and width of recorded music.

Whether it’s 80s post punk, Blue Note post bop jazz, fusion, or experimental and improvisational music from other cultures, I hope to tackle it all here at NDIM.

Thanks for joining us. I hope you enjoy the ride.
