Student Pitch Competition Wrap
That’s a wrap on our Semester Two Student Pitch Competition! Twenty students from Otago Polytechnic and the University of Otago pitched ideas across science, tech, social ventures and more. Huge congrats to all our pitchers and finalists, and thank you to our judges Natalie Saunders, Conor O’Kane and Rachel Butler, and our partners the University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic and Dunedin City Council.

It’s free for eligible Otago NFPs thanks to the Otago Community Trust, and recordings go to everyone who registers. Funding is limited, so book early.

Emerging Leadership Academy for 18 to 29s
Leadership is not a job title you are given at 40. It is a set of habits you start building now. This free online series, for students, grads and young professionals aged 18 to 29, brings five people with genuinely interesting careers together to talk honestly, including the parts that did not work. Our own Yvette Shum, who grew Coralcone through the Startup Dunedin incubator, is one of the speakers.
When: Five sessions, Thursday 14 January to Thursday 28 January
Where: Online, via Zoom
Young Enterprise, Otago regional finals
Last week our Community Facilitator Cait joined the judging panel at the YES Otago Regional Finals. Our new Most Audacious Award, celebrating bold thinking, went to Fleur de Clifford, an Otago Girls’ High School student and founder of Loop Lead. Congratulations too to No Nest Technology, Otago’s Company of the Year.
Good luck at Nationals!
