Why your LinkedIn matters more than your resume now

React Practice

When it comes to the job search there’s something people often get wrong.
They focus an inordinate amount of time on their resume and their applications and just a little on their LinkedIn profile.

They think they don’t need a LinkedIn profile, or it’s not important, so they leave it as an afterthought.

What they don't realise is that a lot of recruiters stopped checking applications entirely and just manually source candidates on LinkedIn.

And that’s because they’re getting flooded with AI-generated irrelevant applications (some jobs getting 1k+ applications) so they just stopped looking at the applications entirely (or they just aggressively filter them with AI).

As much as we don’t like social networks and having to keep an online presence it’s one of the best ways to show our humanity.
To show that we’re a real person connected to other real people.

So if you’re currently job searching and you’re looking to start more conversations with companies, do include LinkedIn as a core part of your strategy.

And don’t just use it as a “dumping ground” for everything you ever did professionally.
Ask yourself - for what kinds of roles do you want to be found?
And build your profile around that.

When recruiters search, they usually filter first by location, then by role or skills.
So make sure your location is up to date and you added relevant skills to your profile.
It also helps to use the title of the role you want in your headline.

By using LinkedIn as your way to get found for the kinds of roles you want:

  • you increase your visibility to recruiters
  • you show you're a real person
  • you'll strengthen your applications - as a lot of them ask for it these days

How are you currently using LinkedIn right now? Did you get sourced for any roles?

Best,
Corina

PS. I’m looking to work with a small group of developers who want to land a new React role in the next 90 days — one they’re excited to grow in.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

  • You already started applying to jobs or are ready to start soon
  • You’re committed to improving your React skills so you can land a new role
  • You already have at least 2-3 years of professional experience as a software developer
  • You have a good foundation of CSS, HTML and JavaScript
  • You can commit 3-5 hours per week starting November 2nd, 2026.

If that’s you, hit reply with the word ACCELERATE and I’ll send you more info.
