Thanks for subscribing to the newsletter, it's great to have you!
I'm a software engineer, writer, and teacher who's published books on Rust, Go, tech careers, and a bunch of other interesting things (I'm a huge nerd, as you probably gathered). I also mentor students directly, and that's my favourite way to teach: one to one. If you'd like to know more, or just to chat, reply to this email!

I run this independent business by myself, publishing lovingly crafted home-made books from my little cottage headquarters, and teaching over Zoom. I don't have a big budget for marketing, sponsoring conferences, and so on—I prefer to talk direct to my readers and students via this newsletter.
That's why I'm so glad you've joined: every extra subscriber helps to keep this tiny enterprise going, so that I can continue to share what I've learned with as many people as possible. And if you like what I do, and you feel the urge to share my subscribe link with friends or colleagues, please do—it really helps me out. You can also sponsor me on GitHub.
There's lots of fun stuff to come in the newsletter, and you can choose what you'd like to see by editing your selected topics:
  • Learning Go? You'll get useful tips, links, and tutorials in your inbox—and don't forget you can also browse my many blog posts and shop for books or personal training courses.

Buy the full set of my Go books at a discount in the Complete Go Library.
  • Learning Rust? Cool! Watch your email for new articles and tutorials, check out the blog archive, browse my Rust courses, or go straight to the bookshop. (¿Hablas español? ¡Yo también!)
  • Being a better engineer covers everything else you need to succeed: computer science fundamentals, system design, senior and staff engineering, and career advancement. Get articles and guides on levelling up in your job, or even starting your own business.

Read some of my previous blog posts, shop for my dev skills books, and even grab yourself some personal one-to-one mentoring. You can also save money on my Complete Career Library bundle.
If you've already chosen the topics you want, great—just sit back and enjoy the upcoming issues of the newsletter (or read some previous issues). Otherwise, click below to edit your topics:
