Phaser World #256: dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench 🌊
Phaser World Issue 256
Hey, creator! 🙂
Phaser Game Agent V3 is live. The prompt box is still there if you want it, but now it’s optional: the Chief can guide you through every decision, a crew of 22 bots designs the whole game with you, and a second crew builds and playtests it while you watch. Your crew is waiting at phaser.io 🪄
And there’s plenty for everyone else too: a deep-sea dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, a roguelike MMO built solo around a day job, a Cuban grandmother with a flying flip-flop, a browser MMORPG in open beta, a boutique where you design bags for every occasion, and BENNE, a new engine for point-and-click adventures.

🌟 Phaser Game Agent V3 is live! A whole game studio at your service
Phaser AE is the engine that powers the Phaser Game Agent, and this release changes how you use it. No more staring at a prompt box: the Chief guides you through every decision, one question at a time, from genre and world to art style and feel 🪄
A crew of 22 specialist bots handles sprites, music, sound effects, shaders and title screens. Talk to any of them, tweak what they make, or hand over the brief and let them get on with it. You can even rename them, give them a voice, or turn one into a cat. 🐱
In the Design tab, all 22 tools are one click away: mood boards, sprite factory, music, shaders, title screens, game UI. Whatever you make goes straight into the design document. 🎨
When the design is ready, a second crew builds it on our servers or on your own machine with Claude Code, Codex and 70+ other apps. They write the code, playtest every level and fix the bugs while you watch in real time. They also order food, play ping pong and throw a little party when the game is done. 1,500 games built so far, and counting. 🎉

🔥 Fresh From the Web
» 🗡️ Interview: SpringTale, a roguelike platformer MMO built solo with Phaser and Colyseus
Edward Vercoe, a mobile and web developer from Sydney, is building SpringTale on his own, before and after work. Everyone shares the same world: you run into other players, team up against bosses and gather in town. No fixed classes, since your gear defines your abilities, and procedural maps refresh every 24 hours. Die and you drop your equipped gear, but whatever is in your vault stays safe 🛡️
The interview covers why he picked Phaser and Colyseus (one language, TypeScript, front and back), how permadeath can feel fair in a persistent world, and what it takes to balance a classless system as a solo dev. A live demo is playable now, and the Steam release is planned for December 🎮
» 🌊 HADAL: dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench
You pilot a small submersible off Guam toward the bottom of Challenger Deep, almost 11,000 m down, photographing the life of the deep on the way. The physics is the game: you sink on steel weights, drop them to rise, and the battery has to last the whole way back up. No combat, no timers. The challenge is the descent itself 🤿
There are 45 real deep-sea species with sources, and any invented creature is always labelled. Built with Phaser 4, with normal maps generated from pixel art and all audio synthesised live, no sound files. Free in the browser on desktop and mobile, no ads, no sign-up. The developer wants to hear where it gets confusing or boring 🐙
» 🩴 Palm Strike Miami Fight: a Little Havana fighting game with a flying flip-flop
Doña Chancleta, a Cuban grandmother armed with a flying flip-flop, takes on Kilo, a Wynwood wildcard with a spray can, on Calle Ocho at sunset. Light and heavy attacks, blocking, a super meter, and the first to win two rounds takes the match. A free pixel-art prototype with two playable fighters out of a designed roster of eight 🥊
Fight the CPU or share one keyboard with a friend. The stage has parallax layers, a crowd, domino players and a rooster, plus eight Cuban and arcade tracks. Built with Phaser 3.90, with AI-generated art under human direction, and the team says so openly. Free in the browser, no download 🌴
» ⚔️ Seraph Fall Online: a cross-platform browser MMORPG, now in open beta
Seraph Fall Online is a fantasy MMORPG built with Phaser, TypeScript and Colyseus that runs straight from the browser on PC and mobile. Pick one of three classes (Swordsman, Mage or Archer), form a four-player party and take on story campaigns, daily quests and multi-tier boss dungeons. Bosses drop gear from rare to legendary, enhanceable up to +V and tradable in a player-driven market 🗡️
Beyond the combat there are custom fashion sets, collectible wings, aura circles and a Hall of Legends leaderboard. The team is gathering feedback to refine the mechanics and expand the end-game content. Free, no download, no installation 🔥
» 👜 Zoey’s Bag Boutique: design the perfect bag for every customer
You play Zoey, a bag designer who is the talk of the town. Every customer walks in with an occasion, from fancy galas to beach days, and it’s up to you to match the bag. Mix materials, pick styles, decorate with stickers and charms, and build your reputation one design at a time 🎀
Story Mode gives each customer her own personality and preferences, Challenge Mode offers another way to create, and the Collection and Bag Showcase let you revisit your designs. Built with Phaser 3 by Orenji Spark. Free on Poki, on desktop, phone and tablet 👛
» 🕹️ BENNE: a point-and-click adventure engine built on Phaser 4 and TypeScript
BENNE is a modern, web-based engine for point-and-click adventures by Bennethon, the dev behind Hank Steele and the AI Apocalypse, the first game built with it. It gives you rooms, characters, inventory, dialog trees, cutscenes and saves out of the box, so you can focus on story and puzzles. Game logic is written in BenneScript, TypeScript that reads like a screenplay: each line waits for the one above it, no await, no callbacks 🎬
It ships as a VS Code extension with live room previews, polygon editing and a “Play from this room” option to test a puzzle without replaying the whole game. Crisp pixel-perfect scaling, Aseprite art pipeline, MIT licensed, and one command each for an itch .io or Windows build. There’s a playable demo on the homepage 🧩
