DuckDB 2.0 LTS is here, and it’s bringing some serious upgrades. The latest release packs in faster Parquet and CSV reads, stronger client-server support, smoother handling of semi-structured data, and new capabilities like AI agent mode and SQL triggers.
ClickHouse data just got a little easier to explore with Claude. Claude's new Dashboards feature lets users turn natural language questions into interactive dashboards, with support for ClickHouse and other data platforms. And for developers who like to see what's happening under the hood, the generated SQL is just a click away.
🔐 Security Check: PingCAP Breach and Critical PHP Patches
It's been a busy month for open source security. PingCAP, the company behind TiDB, disclosed a breach exposing source code and customer-related information, while PHP rushed out patches for two critical vulnerabilities that could let attackers take control of servers. With AI increasingly woven into data infrastructure, it's another reminder that security might not be the flashiest part of the stack, but it's one developers can't afford to overlook.
Iceberg 1.12.0 brings faster Variant reads, broader support for semi-structured data, and new geospatial capabilities. A welcome upgrade for developers working with increasingly complex lakehouse datasets.
MariaDB Community Server 13.0 is now GA, bringing improved Oracle compatibility, query optimization, observability, and backup capabilities!
AI is bringing new demands to the data stack: fresher information, governed access, and reliable query performance. The OSA Community is excited to support NEXT QUERY 2026, a free virtual Data + AI Infrastructure Summit hosted by PhoenixAI on November 4. Join experts from Apple, AWS, Coinbase, Intuit, and more for 20+ sessions on real-time analytics, open-source infrastructure, and AI systems. Explore the agenda and register free
It's conference season! The OSA Community is also very excited to partner with AirflowSummit Online Reconnect 2026! Join thousands of data orchestration practitioners virtually on November 4–5 for expert talks, deep dives, and networking. Registration is free — secure your spot today!
Debezium is bringing real-time data to AI applications with PyDebeziumAI. The open source Python library connects change data capture (CDC) with LangChain and LangGraph, keeping vector databases like Chroma, PGVector, and Milvus continuously in sync with database changes. That means fresher data for RAG applications, without relying on batch updates.
