OTTL graduates!
Delighted to see that OpenTelemetry Transformation Language reaches v1. Read more about what that means for OTTL in the post by Tyler Helmuth, via the official OTel blog. Congrats to everyone involved!
OTel profiling for Kubernetes
The one and only Juraci Paixão Kröhling published How to Set Up OpenTelemetry Profiling on a Local Kubernetes Cluster, a hands-on deep dive showing you how to benefit from it.
Useful agentic usage
Found "Dev X used 200k tokens with Opus" is not telemetry by Tine Starič helpful, where they address the question "Which skill/plugin/agent is used by whom?" in a practical manner.
Rules for building agents
In Reliability at the core: five ground rules for building an agent loop, Dragos Bilaniuc presents ground rules you should be aware of when building agents. I liked the "observability-first" mindset ;)
Tooling
Tools I stumbled upon and found useful:
- Bisman-Singh/zeroreads finds the log lines that no logged query, alert, dashboard or stored query reads, proves it for each rule, and writes the pipeline configuration that removes, shrinks or archives them.
- signalfx/obstudio, a local OTel workspace for developers: provides a browser UI, API, and MCP server, and ships agent skills for auditing, instrumenting, verifying, and operationalizing telemetry.
