NeuroTechX Montreal Returns!

Something is pulsing in the Montreal neurotech ecosystem!
We are incredibly excited to announce the relaunch of the NeuroTechX (NTX) Montreal chapter. To kick things off with a bang, we are teaming up with the Montreal Hardware Meetup crew for a special joint edition focused on what happens when neuroscience and hardtech collide.

The Montreal ecosystem spans research labs, startups, hospitals, and independent builders. This event is a unique opportunity to bring the hardware and neuroscience communities into the same room, discover what others are working on, and bridge the gaps between research, translation, and commercialization.

Come hear from local builders like Jean-Simon Boucher and Frédéric Simard, meet the team, and see the incredible innovation happening right here in the city. Whether you are a researcher, student, engineer, founder, clinician, developer, designer, or simply curious about neurotechnology, this event is for you!

Help us shape what comes next
As we actively rebuild the local NTX community, we are looking for passionate people to join the movement. Whether you want to volunteer, help organize future meetups, connect us with potential venues, or explore organizational partnerships, we want to meet you.
Come say hi, meet the community, and help us build what's next!
📍 Date & Time: November 13th | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
📍 Location: Café Paper Hill, Montreal

Join the event and register here!

Two Different Boots

“Applying a little electrical current more or less straight to the brain is a far more natural approach than eating a broad range chemical that goes into your digestive system and circulates around your whole body to reach a few receptors.”

Balder Onarheim, Founder and CEO of PlatoScience, sat down with Chay Carter (Carter Sciences, Reccy Neuro) to discuss his origins as a military officer and engineer, the potential of at-home tDCS for mental health, and the challenges of bringing neurostimulation technology to market - from product design and clinical evidence to regulation and public perception.

The Psychiatrist Who Never Sits in a Chair

“It stops being about how many people you can see per hour. It becomes about how one psychiatrist leads a whole team, so that people can get these treatments efficiently enough to start reaching the millions who need them.”

Will Sauvé, CMO of Osmind, spoke with Chay Carter about closing the gap between 60 million Americans that need mental health care and the 70,000 to 80,000 psychiatrists providing it.

An Off-Road Bike for the Mind

“If the personal computer is a bicycle for the mind, it’s a stationary bike. We take your mind somewhere.“

Jonathan Berent, co-founder and CEO of NextSense, spoke with Chay Carter about negotiating an unusual spin-out from Google, surviving the Silicon Valley Bank weekend, and learning to manufacture hardware in China on path to building in-ear EEG.

🔮 Online Tutorials and Neurotech Micro-credential Program
