IPN Members Newsletter - November 2026

IPN Psychedelics

IPN monthly Newsletter

Dear IPN community,

Welcome to November! This digest is designed to keep you informed on organization-wide developments, highlight opportunities across the network, and keep you connected to the broader psychedelic landscape. Up first, a look at the brand new intercollegiatepsychedelics.net.

New Website?!

As you can see above, the new IPN website is sleek. Have a look for yourself and send to your friends and colleagues for a thorough introduction to our organization, a summary of benefits and resources, and links to useful platforms like the IPN Member Portal. If you haven’t already registered for the member portal, don’t make me come find you! Stop missing out on the majority of the IPN experience, hit the button below to join and shoot me a message :)

Upcoming Programs

ng

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during our brainstorming session last month. We’re committing to the development of two specific programs:

The IPN Connect Fellowship (postbac). This is a paid, one-year research fellowship in a top psychedelic lab. This is still taking shape so we would love for you to share your input, sign up as a future fellow, or direct us to a PI or lab that may be interested in hosting a fellow as this all comes together. Please visit the fellowship interest form located on the new website.

The Mentorship Program. We’re seeking to pair mentees with professionals working in the psychedelic field to build a real project together with regular check-ins. This is still in an exploratory phase as well, so visit the mentorship early-access form to add your details to our early-access list as a mentee or mentor. Feel free to shoot us an email at [email protected] to nominate someone else as well. We will be running 45 minute focus groups in November to help build the program around your needs, so sign up through the same mentorship form if you’re interested in helping shape what this becomes.

IPN Team Updates

Community

Thank you for joining us in New York for our post-Horizons mixer! IPN members and newcomers gathered at Sugar Mouse on October 16th for an inspiring evening of networking and discussions on work presented at Horizons. Keep an eye out in the Member Portal for future meetups!

We’re hoping to continue organizing one of these at each major conference in the field. Speaking of which, a big one coming up: Psychedelic Science 2027 (Denver, May 2027). IPN members get 15% off registration with code IPN15.

IPN Labs

Don’t miss IPN’s own Shyam Dhulashia giving a talk next week for Global Psychedelic Week: So You Want to Be a Psychedelic Professional? Shyam will walk through his own path across psychedelic science, therapy and community, and discuss the career pathways open to people entering the field. Catch it on Zoom or in person at UCF with the Central Florida Psychedelic Society on Tuesday, November 3rd, 7:45-8:45 PM ET. More details and the Zoom link available in the Member Portal.

One major field update for you today, saved for the end because it hits on a personal level. You may remember from last months newsletter that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration proposed Schedule I classification of five research tryptamines: 4-OH-DiPT, 5-MeO-AMT, 5-MeO-MiPT, 5-MeO-DET, and DiPT. Well on October 23, Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), alongside Mindstate Design Labs and two independent researchers, formally requested a hearing to challenge this proposal.

The filing challenges the scientific justification for scheduling these compounds, highlighting the harm to ongoing scientific research and therapeutic development. SSDP and scientific co-petitioners took the DEA to court previously over the proposed scheduling of DOI in a 10 day hearing in November of 2024, marking the first time in nearly 40 years that psychedelic pharmacology went on trial in a DEA proceeding. This was the first time in a DEA scheduling case that harms to scientific research were recognized as a relevant factor, and this historic legal precedent is relevant in the present challenge.

I am one of the two independent researchers requesting this hearing. We, the psychedelic and scientific community, have to stand up for research and make our voices heard. Submit public comments, spread the word in your networks, write your politicians! As this unfolds we’ll keep you updated from the front lines. Check out some press coverage for a deeper dive.

Stalwartly,

Benjamin Cummins
