Welcome! And a couple of resources to get you started.
Hi there,
You may be receiving this email because you’ve subscribed or expressed interest in a course that I’m teaching. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
My main home for writing is my blog, hamel.dev, where I write about machine learning, AI, and programming.
I’ll use this newsletter to let you know when I’ve published something new, whether it’s a blog post, a talk, or a video on my YouTube channel.
Something to read in the meantime
While you wait for the next post, I wanted to share a good starting point for my recent work.
For the past year, I’ve been focused heavily on AI evals: the practice of creating data-driven feedback loops to rapidly improve an AI's performance and reliability. To help you get up to speed, I’ve curated the most interesting questions I’ve received from the students I've taught into this blog post.
A little about me
As for me, I’ve been an ML Engineer for over 20 years, with time spent at places like Airbnb and GitHub, where I got to work on some of the early LLM research for code understanding. These days, I work as an independent consultant, where I’ve had the chance to help over 30 companies build AI products.
I also have a huge passion for teaching. I’ve had the chance to help over 4,000 students get up to speed on evals through this popular online course. I've also spent over a decade contributing to open source ML and data science tools.
I’m based in Portland, OR, where I live with my wife and two kids.
I’d love to hear from you
Seriously, hit reply and let me know: How did you find me? What are you most interested in learning about right now?
I read and reply to every single email, and the questions I get from readers are often the inspiration for my next blog post.
All the best,
Hamel
