Meet KahunaCart: a full store for your Grav site

For the last few months I've been building KahunaCart, a complete ecommerce platform that runs inside Grav. It's been on sale since September, and since then, KahunaCart has received 6 major releases to add even more features and capabilities, and now is a great time to check it out if you have not already done so.

KahunaCart turns a Grav site into a complete store. Your pages, your blog and your products all live on the same site, with one admin and one theme. And it all runs on your own hosting, with your orders and customers in your own database.

It covers what a real store needs:

• A catalog with variants, stock, categories, reviews and search
• Checkout with tax, shipping, coupons, and guest or customer accounts
• Physical products and digital downloads, even in the same order
• Stripe, PayPal and Polar payments included, with six more providers available as add-ons
• A full store back office inside Grav's admin: orders, refunds, customers and reports

No subscriptions

I don't like renting software, so KahunaCart doesn't work that way. It's $249 once per site, and that includes a year of updates and support. There are no monthly fees and no transaction fees, and no limits on products, orders or customers.

After the first year you can renew for $99 to keep getting updates. Or don't. Your store keeps working exactly as it is.

When a store needs more, there are add-ons: Bookings for appointments, Rentals for nightly stays, Subscriptions, License Keys for selling software, Newsletters, Print on demand, Affiliates, live Shipping rates and a Point of Sale till for your shop counter. Each one is a one-time purchase, and your one site renewal covers updates for all of them.

New in 1.6: nine themes

Last week we released KahunaCart 1.6, and the big news is themes. Every license now comes with three storefront themes: Kahuna, plus the new Slate and Pebble. Each one covers every store page, in light and dark.

Then there are six new business themes. Each is shown as an example business, with a home page that puts the add-ons to work, live from your store:

• Vellum, a hair salon, with the services, prices and team from Bookings
• Boulder, a bike rental shop, with the fleet and live availability
• Aegean, a holiday house, with a live calendar and a stay picker from Rentals
• Graphene, a software studio, with editions, a changelog and a live license key check
• Zoom, a pet shop with grooming, with the day's open times lane by lane
• Encore, a band, with a new album on pre-order in every format

But nothing in them is tied to that one business. Pick the look you like and make it yours. Every business theme works without its add-ons too. They're $99 each, or $399 for all six.

Try it yourself

The best way to judge it is to click around. The live demo has every theme and every example business running, and you can go right through checkout with the test payment provider. Nothing is charged and nothing ships. You can also check out the admin to see how everything is setup and configured.

Requirements: KahunaCart needs Grav 2 and PHP 8.3 or newer. If you're still on Grav 1.7, this is a pretty good reason to make the move.
