DEAL CASE
Advent International | Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV)
In February 2020, Advent International acquired a majority stake in Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV), a Mumbai-headquartered specialty pharmaceutical company focused on women’s health, fertility and critical care. Advent partnered with BSV to better commercialize the business while scaling operations domestically and abroad, with the goal of transforming the company into a domestic champion that would improve the lives of millions of women.
By the time of Advent’s exit in 2024, BSV’s annual revenues had doubled, EBITDA had grown by more than 2.5x and EBITDA margins improved from 20% to 30%. The company’s workforce grew from roughly 900 to 1,800 employees over the same period. Between 2021 and 2024, BSV helped approximately 2.6 million mothers facing Rh incompatibility safely deliver healthy babies. In October 2024, Indian pharmaceutical business Mankind Pharma acquired 100% of BSV in one of the largest pharmaceutical transactions in India’s history.
