🎉 Welcome to Frontend at Scale!
Hello there,
Come on in, please! What a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting visitors today, so sorry if things are a bit messy. Let me clean up a little first.
Ugh, maybe I'll do that later.
Welcome to Frontend at Scale, your bi-weekly newsletter for all things frontend development, software design, and terrible dad jokes.
My name is Maxi Ferreira—I'm a software engineer who has been trying, failing, and sometimes succeeding at scaling frontend applications for the past 15 years, and I just couldn't be more excited to have you here.
You'll get an email from me with some of my favorite frontend resources every other Sunday, but if you just can't wait to dive in and see what the newsletter is all about, here are some of the most popular issues of the past couple of years:
- Visualizing Frontend Architecture — How to draw frontend architecture diagrams that actually make sense.
- Just Enough Architecture — How to find the right balance between too much and too little architecture.
- The Latest vs. The Greatest — How to balance boring technology and the need for innovation.
- Don't Live With Broken Windows — How to keep your codebase in good shape by fixing small issues as they come up.
You might also want to check out my Fundamentals of Frontend Architecture course, a FREE video course that teaches you everything you need to know to build robust and scalable frontend applications.
And if audio is more your thing, you won't want to miss the Frontend.fm podcast.
You can find me online on LinkedIn, Bluesky, and X. And last but not least, if you want to make sure the next issue of Frontend at Scale doesn't land in your junk folder, reply to this email with "Hi Maxi!", "Hello from {place_where_you_live}", or really anything you want.
For extra awesomeness points, I'd love to hear what brought you to the newsletter and what things you were hoping to learn about—because I'm pretty sure you aren't here for how good the jokes are.
Alright, I'll get out of your hair already. I hope you enjoy your stay, and please don't forget to tell your friends about this cool new place you've found (but don't tell them about the mess; you can leave that part out).
Talk soon,
Maxi
