All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid

Nymph, then a virgin, nurse, then a servant

Just an appendage, live to attend him

It’s certainly nothing new, this concept of catchy songs that highlight the unique struggles women face. Aretha Franklin famously demanded we all show the female gender a little more R-E-S-P-E-C-T, while the late, great Dolly Parton waxed poetically in “9 to 5” about women in the workplace being “just a step on the boss man’s ladder.”
