Greetings from Jeff ... and a little gift :)

I noticed you are new here ... greetings!

We may not know each other very well yet, but I'd love to share a quick story about my past ... and how the experience helped me start Excel University.

When I was the Accounting Manager for a small public company, I was responsible for what we called the "month end close." I basically had to close the books, meaning I had to generate a bunch of reports, calculate a bunch of entries, and prepare financial statements.

During this two week close process, I had more work than time. I would often work late and come in on weekends.

Since much of my time was spent in Excel, I focused on getting Excel to do as much of this work as possible. Each month, I focused on automating one more report, one more journal entry, one more worksheet.

And over time, all of this focus on improving my workbook efficiency paid off. Big time. I could now close the books in about 2 days (instead of 2 weeks)!!!

I now I had more time than work.

But, here's the thing: it wasn't Excel itself that made the difference. I mean, I'd been using Excel for many years.

It was the specific approach I developed and the specific set of Excel skills I learned that made the difference.

I'd like to keep this email short, so I'll tell you more about how all of this lead to Excel University in my next email.

In the meantime, I'd like to give you a little welcome gift. This PDF contains 5 of my favorite keyboard shortcuts. I hope they help you save a little time :)
I'll jump back in your inbox shortly to share a little more about Excel University, our goals, and our process ... thanks!

Thanks
Jeff
