Same tool, twice the success. What did they do differently?

// WHAT 400,000 SESSIONS SHOWED

Same tool. Twice the success.

Anthropic looked at how 235,000 people use Claude Code. One group got far more out of it.

Hey there,

In June, Anthropic published a study of about 400,000 Claude Code sessions from 235,000 people. They rated each session from novice to expert, and counted it as a success only when there was hard proof that it worked.

Here's what they found:

15%

of novice sessions verifiably worked

28-33%

of intermediate and expert sessions did

400,000

sessions studied

Same tool, about twice the success. So where does the difference come from?

Take a guess before you read on.

THE ANSWER

From the part you still do.

The same study shows how the work splits. People make about 70% of the planning decisions, and Claude makes about 80% of the execution decisions.

So the agent does most of the doing. What's left for you is deciding what to build, what the agent should look at, how it will prove the change works, and when to throw an answer away. My bet is that this is where the two groups split.

That split also changes what the job pays for. A developer who gets a verified result in one session out of three ships about twice as much as one who gets it in one out of seven, with the same subscription. Teams notice that, and so do the people hiring.

PwC is one of the four biggest audit and consulting firms in the world. This summer they looked at more than a billion job ads from 27 countries. Jobs that ask for AI skills pay 62% more on average, and they are growing about eight times faster than the job market as a whole.

That part can be learned

Claude Code: Essentials teaches those decisions on a real .NET solution: planning before the agent touches a file, keeping its context small, writing the CLAUDE.md that keeps it on your conventions, giving it tests to check itself, and reviewing what it wrote before you merge.

A lot of you didn't wait. More than 140 courses went out in the first three days, and I am glad our community is so eager to learn and improve.

We're halfway through the launch week, and the prices end on Monday, 26 October, so make sure to get your copy at the best price available during this launch.
