Tech for Good Roundup - October 2026
Hello from the BGV team,
This week the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) published their annual market sizing report, which shows that more than 3,000 organisations worldwide manage an estimated $1.76 trillion in impact assets.
According to the GIIN, allocations span a wide range of countries, sectors and asset classes. And that’s an exciting step change, but we’re still bullish on the very early stage VC ecosystem (for more on this read our 2025 impact report). But in the last weeks, we were excited to learn more and explore new countries too.
Meet the cohort of the J-Star X UK Impact Accelerator
In partnership with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) we’re excited to announce the 12 Japanese startups selected for the J-Star X Impact UK Accelerator, a programme helping Japanese tech for good businesses scale their products into the UK and European markets. The programme kicked off in Tokyo earlier this month, and we’re delighted to be working with ventures working on product and services that range from turning waste into hydrogen, focus on a healthier life expectancy through better brain health, provide better parenting support and much more.

Explore the Trustworthy AI Map
Earlier this month, our friends at ImpactVC, Project Liberty, Reframe Venture, Andaris, Omidyar Network, Mozilla, Norrsken and Seismic Foundation launched the TrustworthyAI Market Map, a first-of-its-kind resource showcasing the companies building the technologies and infrastructure for trustworthy AI adoption at scale.
The map reveals where new investment opportunities are emerging, who is building the solutions and where capital is flowing.
We're proud to have co-convened this initiative as one of the nominating partners. And we're chuffed to see two of our portfolio companies, Amytis and Vouchsafe, featured amongst the 79 companies building Trustworthy AI 🔥
