37 Office Tasks 𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗼, Ranked by Hours per Month News 2026-10-29

AutoHotkey Newsletter (the-Automator)

Howdy John,

Last week I met with a few friends here in Las Vegas.

The goal was to help them start to use AI.

This might sound easy, but it’s like staring at an encyclopedia and trying to decide which page to start on.

We discussed the differences between AI models (not much these days), how Agents for models are quite different than Bots like GrokBot, Muse, Dots, Open Claw, Duet (which I just got access to).

Near the end of our meeting we finally decided the best thing to use AI for is to let it help you do something you’re already doing (especially something you hate doing).

That got me thinking. Why not generate a list of the most common things people do on a computer, that they hate doing, but AI could really help with? So I created this page which has a list of 37 things we all hate doing.

Here are the top 10

#FreqMinutesHours/ monthTask
11001017Processing email (sorting it and drafting replies)
2880115Copying data between applications
316205.3Turning meeting notes and recordings into action items
46606.0Cleaning up messy data
55907.5Creating recurring reports
620103.3Filling out repetitive forms
78456.0Reading long documents
810152.5Writing/fixing spreadsheet formulas
94302.0Writing status updates
103052.5Chasing follow-ups, approvals, and overdue items

What do you think❓ Which one is your biggest pet peeve❓

Check out the full list as I also mention how AI can help with each activity.

Now on with the show…

Fast Alternative to Windows Explorer

Are you as fed-up with Windows Explorer as I am❓ If so, you should check out our AHK File Explorer. It’s lightweight, super fast and has incredible search features. Take a look in this video. Prefer to stick with Windows Explorer? This script speeds it up.

Learning Classes the Easy Way

During our client training call today they asked about working with classes. Isaias gave a great overview, but it was on a “private” client call which we cannot share.

It did remind me of a call a few years back where he had done an amazing job teaching the transition from function libraries to classes.

I’d searched for the hero extract before but never found it. Today, I used AI and found it in less than a minute!

I then asked AI to rip out the relevant part (it was in a 2-hour hero call) and push it into a concise video. You can check it out in this video.

Want more❓ Here’s a quick look at function libraries (the starting point), and a live session converting functions to classes (AI vs manual). If you want to really nail it, check out our Objects & Classes course.

Improving People’s Lives: Story #120

A friend was trying to help out a local business get more clients/prospects and asked if I had any ideas. We kicked around some ideas. After our call, I pretended I was the client and used my ProspectFinder to generate ways he could find prospects.

It generates 30 “out of the box” ways to identify prospects using Treg.io. The best part is that, even though my tool uses Claude, ProspectFinder is FREE for anyone to use. 😊

Give it a try and let me know your favorite approach❗

What we 🅰utomated this week with AutoHotkey #154

Ever wish a leaf blower in the background would just disappear from your recordings?

I reverse engineered how Zoom does it and built a voice denoiser, then paired it with ClearCut, which cut filler words and trimmed about 15 minutes off a 2-hour call.

In this week's video I show you that, how I used Claude to overhaul my website and help a realtor edit 15 short videos in DaVinci Resolve, and a Rust image converter I built without knowing Rust.

Clients say…

While I learned a lot of stuff about AutoHotkey myself first through the official documentation, it's always nice to learn extra from third parties about certain topics, what potentially interesting libraries are out there that I haven't heard of or in general seeing how others use AutoHotkey and learning through that accidentally something new is nice.
