Apple announces MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display
Same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, but with touch and glowing Apple logo on the back
Apple unveils new model in MacBook Pro lineup – new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display.
Form-factor mostly remains the same (although, thinner and lighter) – model is available in 14” and 16” variants with two color options – space black and silver. So are the CPUs – M5 Pro and M5 Max.
PROLED XDR is a tandem OLED display offering 2000 nits peak and 1000 nits sustained brightness, 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It supports ProMotion with up to 120Hz refresh rate. Color gamut covers both P3 and Adobe RGB. Nano-texture option is available.
New display has Dynamic Island and that also brings Live Activities to the center of the screen.
Display is also touch-sensitive. Existing apps receive touches as mouse clicks and, however, apps could be modified to support touch input natively.
Apple advertises 24 hours of battery life for the new model.
Storage could be configured up to 16TB.
And, hey, Apple logo is now illuminated again!
Preorders already started and general availability in stores is planned for November 6.
