iPhone Duo reviews are in – great foldable, apps are lagging behind

First reviews surfaced on iPhone Duo.

Reviewers agree on hinge quality and sturdiness. Internal screen works great in sunlight and the crease is mostly not visible (but, yes, of course you can see it in some scenarios).

Main wide and ultra-wide cameras are mostly on par with iPhone Pro models. However, internal under-screen camera is only suitable for FaceTime. Image quality significantly degrades in low-light conditions.

Reviewers are also frustrated with Touch ID and hope that the next generation will bring Face ID.

Some also mention that iPhone Duo becomes noticeably warm or even hot during active workloads.

Apps are the most problematic thing for the iPhone Duo. Even to make it look “okay” – the app needs to be compiled using the proper SDK, otherwise it will run letterboxed on the internal display. And while some apps are gradually getting support, that seems to be not enough yet.

Apple praised developers who updated their apps to add proper support for iPhone Duo screens. App Store will highlight these apps as well.

Reachability accessibility feature is currently missing from iPhone Duo, Apple promises to bring it back later this year.

Apple Pencil (USB-C version) will be supported with both iPhone Duo screens with iOS 27.2.

Apple gets ready for Friday, when iPhone Duo will be available in Apple Stores. Also, rumors suggest that Apple is planning to build more phones based on orders and general interest.
