Angular Signals in 10 minutes
Hi there,
Signals are the smallest idea in modern Angular, and the one everything else is built on.
A signal is a value that knows when it changes. That's it.
const counter = signal(0);
counter(); // read it
counter.set(5); // write it
counter.update(c => c + 1);
The interesting part is what happens next. When a template reads a signal, Angular records that the template depends on it. When the signal changes, only the parts of the page that actually read it get updated — no tree-walking, no zone patching, no change detection strategy to configure.
This is why zoneless Angular works. The framework no longer has to guess what changed, because the values report it themselves.
