We’re the UK’s leading dementia research charity, and we are spearheading the search for a cure. Thank you for standing with us!

Almost one million people are living with dementia in the UK. Tragically, none of them will survive and there are currently no treatments available to slow, stop or prevent it.

Alzheimer’s Research UK exists to change that.

Dementia is caused by physical diseases, and we know diseases can be cured. But we cannot do this alone.

With your support, we’re one step closer to finding a cure and putting a stop to dementia.

Our dementia risk is shaped by a complex mix of factors. Some, like our age and genes, we can’t change, which is why people from all walks of life sadly go on to develop the condition.

But research tells us that there are things we can do to protect our brains throughout our lives – which could help reduce our risk of developing dementia later on.

We created the Think Brain Health Check-into help you explore your brain healthy habits and find simple tips on giving back to your incredible brain.

WALK FOR A CURE 2026

Join us this summer for the return of Walk For A Cure. From family-friendly, accessible 5km walks to challenging 42km hikes - there’s a charity walk for everyone. Together, we will end the devastation of dementia. Find out more about our upcoming walks and choose your event.
