Eli Lilly Licenses SpeechDx Data, Signaling Momentum for Speech-Based Alzheimer's Measures
Dear John,
We are thrilled to share that Eli Lilly and Company, a world leader in the Alzheimer's field, has licensed our SpeechDx dataset, launched by the ADDF's Diagnostics Accelerator's (DxA). SpeechDx is the largest harmonized longitudinal dataset of speech and biomarker data spanning the Alzheimer's continuum. The collaboration validates the resource we’re developing and the ADDF's leadership in advancing speech-based measures as powerful prognostic tools.
Launched in 2023, SpeechDx set out to fill a major data gap in the field. Now one of our largest investments to date, SpeechDx is a gold-standard resource for validating AI models. Speech is one of the earliest indicators of cognitive decline, and AI tools trained on this data could help forecast Alzheimer's risk before symptoms appear. As Bill Gates writes in his new Gates Note, today’s Alzheimer’s tests and treatments are still not reaching everyone who needs them. Scalable, low-cost tools like speech-based measures could help close that gap.
This is venture philanthropy at work: identifying what the field needs before others are ready to fund it, then building it to a standard that brings industry to the table. Lilly joins Siemens Healthineers and Callyope as the third company to license SpeechDx. These partnerships move us closer to precision medicine for Alzheimer's, where digital measures such as speech work alongside blood tests to detect disease earlier and match each patient with the right treatment.
Thank you for your continued support.
