The Active Inference Institute is inviting applications for three ways to support our open research and education community in 2027 and beyond. Whether you bring governance, scientific, or operational experience, there may be a place for your contributions in these volunteer positions.
1. Board of Directors — 2027-28
Our Board provides formal governance and oversight for the Institute as a nonprofit, helping make Active Inference more accessible and applicable. We are a working board for a mostly volunteer organization, so each Board member also serves on a committee focused on Institute development.

2. Scientific Advisory Board
Do you have scientific or technical expertise to contribute? Our Scientific Advisory Board is a volunteer body that works alongside the Board of Directors and Officers to guide the Institute’s scientific direction and rigor. We welcome applicants from every field Active Inference touches, from neuroscience and biology to AI, robotics, and philosophy.

3. Officers — 2027
We are also seeking Officers for hands-on, operational volunteer roles in 2027. We especially welcome people with experience in finance, nonprofit operations, or grant administration, and a passion for helping our ecosystem Act, Infer, Serve!
